Mount types

Which mount fits the room

You supply the bracket. If you haven't bought one yet, this is how we'd choose — and we're happy to look at the room and the TV model first.

Fixed

The slimmest look, a few centimeters off the wall. Best when you sit straight in front of the screen at a comfortable height.

Tilting

Angles the screen down a few degrees — useful against window glare or when the TV sits higher on the wall.

Full-motion

An arm that swings and tilts for open layouts and corners. Heavier load on the wall, so the anchoring matters even more.

Walls

Every NYC wall type, anchored the right way

The wall decides the hardware. We check what's behind the surface before drilling, and we won't mount where the wall can't safely carry the TV and mount.

How each wall type is handled
Drywall on wood or steel studsMounted into studs where they line up; otherwise heavy-duty anchors rated for the load.
Prewar plasterDrilled carefully to avoid cracking; anchored to the framing or with plaster-rated hardware.
BrickMasonry bits and anchors set in solid brick, not the mortar joints.
Poured concreteConcrete-rated anchors, following the building's drilling rules. Concrete mounting
Above a fireplaceHeight, heat and masonry checked first. Fireplace TV mounting

Above a fireplace

Hiding TV wires

Manhattan buildings

TV mounting in Manhattan co-ops, condos and rentals

Most Manhattan installs come with building logistics: a certificate of insurance for the management office, a reserved service elevator, working-hour limits and sometimes a list of walls you may not drill. We sort that out with you before the appointment, so the visit isn't stopped at the front desk.

  • Send the building's COI requirements when you book — how COI requests work.
  • Renting? Check whether your lease allows wall mounting or requires patching when you move out.
  • High-rise with concrete walls or columns? Tell us — some buildings restrict drilling in structural concrete.

Questions

TV mounting questions

How much does TV mounting cost in NYC?

ArtFixPro's TV mounting plans are $120 (Basic — cables neatly dressed, no concealment), $150 (Smart — cables in a paintable surface cord cover) and $200 (Pro — cables concealed inside the wall where the wall allows it). Each plan covers mounting on your bracket, connecting up to three devices and cleanup. Extra TVs, soundbars or unusual walls are confirmed with you before the visit.

Do I need to buy the TV mount?

Yes — the plans use your own wall mount (bracket). Buy one rated for your TV's size, weight and VESA pattern. Fixed mounts sit closest to the wall, tilting mounts help with glare and higher placement, and full-motion arms let you angle the screen. If you're unsure, tell us the TV model and the wall before you order.

Can you mount a TV on a brick, plaster or concrete wall?

Yes. Brick and concrete get masonry bits and anchors rated for the load; prewar plaster is drilled carefully and anchored to the framing or with hardware suited to plaster. In high-rises with poured-concrete walls we follow the building's drilling rules — some buildings restrict where you can drill.

Can you hide the TV cables inside the wall?

Often, yes — that's the Pro plan. In-wall concealment depends on what's behind the wall (studs, insulation, fire blocking, masonry) and on building rules. Power cords can't simply be pushed through a wall; the Pro plan includes a recessed in-wall power kit, the code-compliant way to bring power behind the TV. When in-wall isn't possible, a paintable cord cover (Smart plan) keeps the wall clean.

How high should a TV be mounted?

As a starting point, the center of the screen should be near seated eye level — often around 42 inches from the floor in a living room, higher in bedrooms or above furniture. We confirm the height with you on site before drilling. Our guide explains the rule of thumb in more detail.

Can you mount a TV the same day?

Often, and at no extra charge. Choose today's date in the booking form and we'll confirm a time with you by phone or text. Same-day availability depends on the schedule, your location, the wall and any building paperwork.

Do you work in buildings that require a COI?

Yes. ArtFixPro carries $5 million in liability coverage and workers' compensation, and can send a certificate of insurance to your building's management. Send us their requirements when you book so the COI is approved before the appointment.
