TV wire concealment in NYC — in a cover or inside the wall

A wall-mounted TV looks finished only when the cables disappear. We run them in a slim, paintable cord cover or inside the wall where the wall allows it — and handle power the code-compliant way.

  • Cord cover with mounting: $150 (Smart plan)
  • In-wall concealment with mounting: $200 (Pro plan)
  • Power planned with you before the visit

The short answer

Cord cover or in-wall — which one?

If the wall is drywall and the building allows openings, in-wall concealment gives the cleanest result. If the wall is brick, concrete or plaster you'd rather not open — or you rent — a paintable cord cover is fast, tidy and leaves no openings.

  • Both are available as part of TV mounting plans
  • Low-voltage cables (HDMI, optical, network) can go in-wall
  • TV power needs a recessed kit or an electrician's outlet

Power

The one cable that changes the plan

HDMI and other low-voltage cables can be routed inside a wall. A TV's ordinary power cord can't — code doesn't allow flexible cords inside walls. That leaves two safe options, and we'll tell you which fits before you book.

Recessed power kit

A listed in-wall kit that carries power from a low outlet to a recessed receptacle behind the TV, designed for exactly this job. Included in the Pro plan.

Electrician's outlet

A new outlet behind the TV, installed by a licensed electrician — sometimes required by the building.

Limits

When in-wall isn't the right call

We'd rather recommend a cord cover than open a wall that shouldn't be opened.

  • Solid masonry and concrete — can't be fished; chasing is usually not allowed in apartment buildings.
  • Fire blocking or insulation — exterior walls and some framed walls block the route.
  • Above a fireplace — the flue and masonry rule out most in-wall runs. Fireplace TV mounting
  • Building alteration rules — co-ops and condos may require approval for wall openings.
  • Samsung The Frame — the One Connect cord has its own in-wall rated version. Frame installation

Questions

Wire concealment questions

How do you hide TV wires on a wall?

Two ways. A cord cover (raceway) is a slim channel fixed to the wall surface that holds the cables; it's paintable to match the wall and needs no opening. In-wall concealment runs the cables inside the wall between an opening behind the TV and one near the outlet or console — the cleanest look, when the wall allows it.

How much does TV wire concealment cost?

With mounting, concealment is part of the plan: $150 for the Smart plan (cord cover) and $200 for the Pro plan (cables inside the wall). For a TV that's already mounted, send a photo of the wall and we'll quote the concealment work.

Can the TV power cord go inside the wall?

Not as a regular plug-in cord — electrical code doesn't allow flexible cords to be run inside walls. The Pro plan includes a recessed in-wall power kit designed for exactly this. If your building requires a new outlet behind the TV instead, that is work for a licensed electrician and is quoted separately.

Can you hide wires in a brick or concrete wall?

Usually not inside it — solid masonry and concrete can't be fished like a framed wall, and many buildings don't allow chasing them. A cord cover painted to match is the practical answer there.

Do I need permission to open the wall?

In rentals, co-ops and condos you often do. Check your lease or the building's alteration rules before choosing in-wall concealment; if opening the wall isn't allowed, a cord cover leaves no openings.

Can you hide a Samsung Frame's One Connect cable?

Yes — The Frame has its own options, including Samsung's in-wall rated One Connect cord. See our Samsung Frame installation page for how the One Connect box and its cable are planned.
