What decides how much a shelf can hold
We won't quote a universal weight limit, because there isn't one. These four things decide it — and we check them on site before drilling.
- The bracket — its own rating and how deep the shelf is.
- The wall — studs, plaster and lath, brick or concrete.
- The anchors — rated for the expected weight and the direction of pull.
- What goes on it — a row of hardcovers weighs far more than it looks.

How much does shelf installation cost in NYC?
Shelf installation is $100 per hour with a $100 minimum. Tell us how many shelves and what type in the booking form; long runs, masonry walls or many brackets take more time.
How much weight can a floating shelf hold?
It depends on the shelf's own bracket, its depth and what it's anchored into — there is no single number for every wall. Floating shelves hold the most when the bracket is fixed into studs or masonry. Tell us what will go on the shelf and we'll anchor for it, or recommend a bracket shelf if the load is heavy.
Can you install shelves on plaster, brick or concrete?
Yes. Plaster is drilled carefully and anchored to the framing or with plaster-suited hardware; brick and concrete get masonry or concrete-rated anchors within the building's rules.
Do you build custom shelving?
We install shelves and shelving systems you've bought — floating shelf kits, bracket shelves, rail systems and flat-pack units. Custom carpentry and built-ins are a different trade.
Can you line shelves up with a TV or art?
Yes — shelves are often part of a TV wall or a gallery arrangement. Book them together and we'll align everything to the same lines.
